Missed my earlier train because the buses weren’t running because it was a school holiday? So because school isn’t in session for a week, the whole neighborhood doesn’t need to go anywhere? Thanks for letting me wait in the cold for an hour before some nice person came and helped me out. Also, since the dang airport closes at 10:30 and doesn’t open until 6 & because the train station closes after 1, I had to rent a hotel room (backpackers’ room for 26 euros a night) but I do actually have good karma in the world, because they were already locked up, so the owner gave me a 55 euro room to myself for the backpacker’s price. Got about 5 hours of sleep, and then left super early to catch my flight….waited on the “every 10 minute” bus for about 30, and then once it finally showed up the trip took 40 minutes (which is 30 more than it should) and so by the time I got to the airport and was BOOKING it like a crazy person, the check-in had closed EVEN THOUGH it said on the ticket that I had 10 more minutes. SO. I cried. A lot. Re-booked for later today for 100 euros. That’s the price you pay, I guess. All in all, terrible last 24 hours, but it can only get better from here! I did my very best to get here so I shouldn’t sweat it. Going to go find a sunny corner to sleep in.

My roommate and I are singing “Jingle Bells” and other Christmas songs, she in Finnish and me in English. This is awesome.

First things first: baked mac and cheese was a complete success.
The process was tricky, but fun because I was doing my best with what I had…which was: 2 types of cheeses that were supposed to be cheddar according to the american recipe…but when I asked around in the grocery store, no one had ever heard of cheddar cheese…so I picked two that were different colors…one of them had to be right, right? Then, after I had melted the cheese and the cream and milk and was toasting the breadcrumbs and was frantically trying to boil the macaroni all at the same time, while freaking out about something spilling over or burning or burning myself. My roommate Mira from Finland watched in amazement at the mess I made in such a short period of time. Meanwhile, I was asking her to convert measurements from american to metric, but it didn’t matter anyway because OF COURSE we are not equipped with such things like measuring cups. Oh, and no real oven either (not even an easy-bake oven like we had at Huntington Place, Kate) so the baked mac & cheese was baked in a toaster oven………..but DESPITE all of that, look how perfect it was: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH:
AND I DIDN’T TRIP WITH 2 GLASS HOT CASSAROLE DISHES ON THE 15 MINUTE WALK TO THE STUDENT LOUNGE IN THE DARK AHHHHHHHHHHH. You all know how big of a feat that is for me.
overall, HUGE success 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
oh, and there was a beautiful sunset like most evenings…it’s amazing it comes from having such shitty weather all day every day.

Really dislike how they do classes here. More in a minute…finishing some research for my homework on HOW TO DO RESEARCH. Are you serious right now?

I cannot get away from Miley Cyrus. That is the first thing people ask me about when they find out I’m from Tennessee…the second is Jack Daniel’s Whiskey. Also, Miley plays in the stores and bars. A lot.
Also, Cee-Lo’s “F*ck You” was playing in a classy store the other day when I was shopping, and it was completely un-edited. The employees were singing along, too. ????
I love Morning Breakfast Tea not in the morning.
My ‘sit-bones’ (as a yoga teacher would call them) HURT from cycling all day every day.
